honda hr214 overspeed

hi

i was forced into fixing a honda hr214 mower with a ohv engine. I got it to run but it runs way overspeed.

can anyone tell me how to adjust the governer (which may have been tampered with before) and the high speed setting?

Thank you

Has this unit has been sitting for a while ? If so with the throttle in the idle or stop position grab the governor arm then move it back and forth, It should move freely if not the throttle shaft in the carb. is gummed up and needs cleaning with carb. & choke spray cleaner.

If this is not the problem while your there checking look on the back of the block and there will be a model number for the engine, Post it for further information about adjustments.
