Who needs him ANYWAY!!!

I was finishing my route a bit early today had one lawn left when I get a call from this guy who says he saw me earlier today at a house a few doors down from him and he wants a free estimate. I said what do you need done? He said I will show you when you get here...OK? I guess it's a secret...He said can you come by sometime next week...I said sure, I will actually be done here in about an hour and I could swing over then...he says GREAT I will see you in an hour. I get there EXACTLY 1 hour later, the doorbell is smashed in (not working) so I knock...no answer, no cars in the driveway...I knock again REAL LOUD...no answer...I call his house line...no answer, so I leave a message saying I am in his front yard and nobody is home...I can't leave a bid on the door because he didnt tell me what he wanted done...anyway I get pissed, leave a card on the door and start heading to my truck...the next door neighbor calls me over for an estimate to aerate, seed, fert, and get get rid of some moles. about 5 minutes after talking with the neighbor "mr. no show" comes out on his lawn and says HEY!...then he sees me talking to the neighbor...he goes OH, oK take your time...he goes back inside (HE WAS HOME THE WHOLE TIME!) I continue talking to the neighbor...2 minutes later mr. no show comes out "FORGET IT NEVERMIND!!!!!" WOAH. Anyway I finish the estimate and go over to mr no show. I knock loud again...he comes out "THAT WAS RUDE I WAS 1ST BLAH BLAH BLAH...You should have made HIM WAIT blah blah blah." I explained I knocked and phoned you and thought no one was home so I was actually going to leave...when I started talking to the neighbor...he says I should have made the neighbor wait when this guy is lucky I was even still in the area...He is SO Pissed, and it doesn't make sense...I should be pissed...but what keeps me happy is knowing I am SO GLAD I didn't even waste time on a bid for him cause if I got it he would have complained about something sooner or later...I said sorry and he said you should be and he went inside...what would you guys have done? He knows I went to his 1st cause he got the card off his door and has a phone message proving it...

Now it would not be nice to do BUT I would call the guy up apologize and say he was right, and then proceed to tell him what all I'm willing to do at some ridiculous price that he can't turn down. And when he calls to ask where you are tell him sorry YOUR NOT FIRST, I had another call before I gave you the price. It was on MY machine.
