New Site, What do ya think!

I am working on a web site for a new company, it is not finished but the homepage is up. Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions.

looks good, But I would make the words next to the little round pictures links also. Most sites are word linked.

Also is what you may want to do until you finish. Either make all the links goto a "under construction" page or to the main page.

I would but that creates alot of extra work, and nobody will be given the address till completely finished. Will be completed within 7 days. Would hate to have to redo all the links when done, would be alot of extra work.

are all the pages going to have the same look as the main page? take a look at mine http://www.chadslawn.us/ then look at the about us page. All my pages are the same. So I just named, put under construction on each 1. When I was done with each page, I upped it and replaced existing page. Doesnt take alot of time at all. Only if each page will have the same design.

You just need (as suggested above) to create under construction pages so all those 404 errors don't show up. The message board on the other site mentioned isn't a "nuke" just s standard forum. Almost all hosts offer one or more for free and integration is as simple as putting another link to it on the site. Actual "nukes" or Blogs are included with most hosting plans also, just depends on what you want.

PS: Not being personally critical of the above site but I would recommend changing to a cross-platform compatible free forum rather than Snitz. Snitz is very outdated compared to most free forum software today and I don't think it's even been substantially updated since about 2000 (forever in the "web world".)
But the main reason I suggest changing before you get any substantial number of posts is because Snitz is "Windows Only" so you are forever tied to a Windows host (and your data can never be converted later). Most all of today programs (site builders, nukes, Blogs, forums, etc.) are cross platform compatible meaning they will run on any variation of *nix or Windows equally. That way you are not "tied" to a particular type host... and good Windows hosts are always more expensive because of the way Windows (Microsoft) charges for their server operating software. Sure some offer cheap Windows hosting but they cut corners somewhere to make up for the cost of licensing it and no modern program really requires Windows for the average web site. Also if your forum ever got as big as this one you can import your posts into something like Fusion or vBulliten (this software) but not from a Windows forum like Snitz.

(Windows server does have some advantages at the moment for big corporations where you may have a dozen offices all over the country with people working on a project, not a web site necessarily, but what is called an Intranet (or in-company network) like a big company developing the latest "widget" where you have design teams, marketing teams, accounting departments, engineers, testing teams, manufacturing etc. all spread out but working on the same project and they all need to see what each other is doing in "real" time. However there are other companies already working fast to develop similar capabilities for non-Windows servers, there are some already just not as good at it as Windows "off the shelf"...at any rate an Intranet is something I seriously doubt any lawn care company or any contractor other than maybe a huge General Contractor would ever need.)

Besides the next thing in web sites will be the coming generation of tools that can deliver a "mini" version of your site to the new data capable cell phones, Blackberry devices, PDAs and such.

I remember when the current generation expected webmasters around the world to adjust their sites (translation: completely rebuild everything from scratch) so as to be compliant with today's devices.

That was funny, thou at the time it didn't strike me as such.

Yep the "pre-order" period for the dot-mobi extensions specifically for domains designed specifically for mobile devices just expired.
They may actually be for sale by now but I don't encourage any lawn people to run out and pay $30+ for one....
Now if I had been the first to get hotchicks.mobi or such and was morally ok with the porn biz they say hand-held porn is the coming money-maker on the 'net ...maybe I should have thought of another way to word that
