hedge trimming this time of year

Is it still okay to trim down a hedge this time of year? It is averaging 10 to 15 degrees during the day and about 5 degrees at night. I dont know what kind of hedge it is...I think its an evergreen. Any help would be appreciated. THanks.

Anytime between now and the end of March when the plant is dormant is a good time to prune. It's a good time for rejuvenation pruning of deicduous shrubs where you remove a significant portion of the shrub.

I am cutting it back more then trimming it? Is that still okay? I am worrying about it budding before freezing. It is an boxwood evergreen that needs to be cut down about half a foot. The customer really wants it done but I dont want to do it if it is going to hurt the plant.
