Advertising in the winter for the following Spring.

Has anyone had much luck sending out flyers, hangers, etc., during the winter months(November-Febuary here) in signing up lawn care customers for the following Spring? If so, what worked and what didnt?

Thanks

We've never done it but I would think if you had some kind of discount incentive people would be interested. Maybe adding some pictures of your spring lawns would help. Advertise spring cleanup and early fert to jump start your lawn kind of thing. Unless you have something to grab customers they won't even be thinking about spring right now.

I do black and whites all year with results. I always do full sheets of paper.

People really hang onto those things.

Tried color sheets, but black and white outperformed, so we switched.

I should write a web page on advertising. Already did one on our top search engine results. But I've done all kinds of advertising things.

I haven't done it yet but it does sound like a good idea. I would wait until at least the beginning of February because many people don't want to think about spending more money after just spending so much over the holidays. I would definitly include some disount incentives like coupons or buy one get one free kinda things. Some ideas: 10% off lawn dethatching or one free mowing with spring cleanup.
