Get yourself a Murray 4.0 HP mower. If you really want to splurge they get one with a 6.5HP engine.

I have a POS 21" push mower...its an MTD. Bought it for something like 130 bucks. Use it for three lawns a week were the gates aren't big enough for our 48. Maybe it gets an hour on it a week.

For all saying that don't do it. Mine is three years old and is still ticking. The minute a repair needs to be made on it greater than a $10-15 part I'll go buy another one instead of spending a few hundred for a 'commercial' mower. IMHO, it would be a waste of money or our situation.

Now, if you are going to be using this as your main mower than forget it...agreed it just won't last. But if its just an hour or two a week total...who cares as long as it runs and is reliable.

If your not going to be bagging take a look at Toro's Personal pace Super Recycler it in your price range it not commercial but but its built solid and should last until you get enough saved to buy their commercial mowers. Stay away from their basic personal pace mowers there more trouble than there worth.

I recently purchased a Snapper High Wheel self propelled with the Briggs 6.5. Let me tell you that it is worth its weight in gold!
