DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT use www.hostdepartment.com. They were cheap but I defintetely got what I paid for. ZERO telephone help and their website is down 50% of the time. And of course it was down all day the day after I sent out my mass mailings. Makes you look real professional when customers see the 404 Not found error
Bottom line you get what ya pay for. I'd recommend www.register.com. Friendly, competent, no down time. Not terribly expensive either. I'm going to switch to them next year.

ohhh the memories... All in all thou, you really are better off if you DIY, that much I am convinced of, the only thing is, well, the curve tends to be a bit long and steep at times It's almost a bit like, well, did you ever think being an Lco would be easy and so you got into this business, remember the first 3-4 months? I think websiting is a bit like that, still you're way better off DIY, that much I promise.Seriously thou, I agree Yahoo has some great tools, also it's really not too awful bad but it does take time, be prepared and you'll be fine. |

A few items about Yahoo,
If you ever want to move a domain it is a nightmare going thru Yahoo and Melbourne IT their domain register. If all you want to do is host one domain it is easy since for 10 bucks you get hosting and site builder together. If you ever want to host more than one website, you can host many websites for only 10 to 15 bucks at many hosting companies, Yahoo 10 bucks a site. So yahoo isn't the best value or even a good value. But if you are only doing one site it is easy and doesn't cost that much. |
