Lawsuit....major update
For those that were with me on this before and gave all the advice and for those who thought I was about to get screwed......search for lawsuit...you know who you are and I'm glad you are turning out to be wrong. Mostly because I like to be right, but in this case it's because.....I'm getting paid!!!
Lawyer just called and asked if I would accept FULL payment of the debt without his costs (250.00) and I said........in a nutshell....ABSOLUTELY. Good guys do win sometimes. Stick to your guns fellas and find a good lawyer that is not afraid to fight. Also, I will be taking the advice on the board from others...... signed work orders etc. Thanks again for all the good input. Take care. Go D'Backs!!!

The 250 was a small price to pay believe me! I didn't think I would get any of it. It's funny, they had just set a court date for December 11 and then all of a sudden they sent us an offer. Maybe I should hold out for expenses too..............nah.

Let me get this straight, $250 - $250=0
Am I missing something? How much did you walk away with? |

You missed the posts from a couple of weeks ago....I will net over $1000 after paying the lawyer. Not bad when the outlook was very bleak prior to calling lawyer.

to the complainers
Just because you don't pay for higher education doesn't mean you don't pay for education. This lesson was $250.00. We all have more to follow.

Man you just lost another $250.
As a pesticide applicator I have made myself judgement proof. I am set up as a limited sole proprietor. I have no real estate to place a lien against. All my equipment is owned by my mother and leased to me for a $1 per year. All my business has for assets is the receivables. Just remember you can't execute a judgement against nothing. |

Stone, you missed the post from 2 weeks ago, nobody sued me, I sued them. I could not collect about 1500 from a commercial client and they refused to pay. I finally bit the bullet and hired a lawyer to collect. He did it in less than 60 days and I feel like I made money. Yes it cost me 250 but I had all but written if off to a learning experience so I feel ok about the 250.
As for your limited liability that is GREAT. POOR MOM! If I was you I would feel pretty bad about putting all that liability on my mother.

stone you are not judgement proof . judgements are entered against your "name" as well as your property therefore you personally are responseable.. unless of course you lease the name lawrence stone from your mom too..

Good to hear SSI, i like it when one of our own comes out on top. It doesn't happen nearly as often as it should.
