Commercial buisness is my main goal , and for this I do tons of cold calls in the winter, just dropping of cards. I also do a lot of direct mailing. Dont be shy about cold calls.

Many people will consider new Co's when they get their renewal letter and find out the costs went up. The only thing is they tend to put those decisions off. It seems like the first nice day in Feb is the time to hit them.

I think flyers work good and it is cheap. I was thinking of rolling them up, with a rubber band and throw them out the window of my car. That would save a lot of time.
Anybody ever do that. It is littering.

i've done fliers in ziplock bags with white rocks for weight. i've had several customers think that idea was cool. 65Hoss used to add a leaf to his when he passed them out for leaf season.

How about taking skydiving lessons? They are around $60.00 per lesson here. Takes about 4 lessons to get to jump. Just bring a ton of flyers with you on your first jump and let go at 5,000 feet. Cheapest distribution you'll find.

best time to put out flyers depends on work being solicited
other good ways to advertize.....
first and foremost........keep your name out there at all times,ie. phone book, truck/ trailer signs, pass out biz cards regurlarly.......................and do great work!!
I think most of us have to do some experimenting to find out which form of advertizing gets best results
ideas......
doorhangers
yellow pages
find a race ( car/ bike /cart) driver and buy advertizing spot on his vehicle
do a small freebie job for a local church or orginzation, stipulate that you get to put up a sign advertizing your work, make sure this is in a high visual area
newsletters to existing customers
let local sod farms know your available to do sod installs
get in touch with real estate people who handle commercial props
ask any orginizations you are affiliated with to let you post bulletins
around here leaving stacks of biz cards in lobbys of banks is popular ?????
never miss an opportunity to let people know of your business, makes no difference if they are prospective clients, they might know some one for referral
of course a lot of these won't work for commercial props
just keep thinking and you can come up with lots of things to try......
