roscioli,

That puts them in the 1995 age range. I would seriously doub't he is telling the truth about the hours!!! Hour meters are too easy to change!!

If they are that old, they will have the old style deck lift (front only) which I had, and was a contributing factor in its sale. When Dixies get old, a LOT of stuff gets loosey-goosey with play in different areas of the deck and other related hardware.

MY SUGGESTION: Look for something newer. I hear of Lazers and TORO Z's going new for less than $7000 and thats brand new with a warranty and a lot more HP. I would shop around, or get him real low on the 60" with a bagger (what type of bagger?)

With a machine that old (age) and with hours that low (shakey!!) they should be down around $3000.

Chopper Vs. Scag

I bought a used 2000 Dixie Chopper 50" flatlander here in Louisiana with about 450 hours on it, for $6500.00, and the shop that sold it to me gave me an extended warranty. In the rare case somethign happened to the Chopper, they woudl loan me out a demo Scag. This is my personal opinion, but I just do not like the Scags. They may look like the have all the bells and whistles, but as for performance the Chopper wins hands down. Faster cutting speed, forward and reverse, faster blade tip speed, and mulches a lot better also. Just my point of view on this matter. And by the way. Kholar says the motors are supposed to last about 1500 hours under very good maintenance.

I bought my 2000 Dixie Chopper XF2500 w/ Kholer for $6500 w/ 50 hrs. And warranty transfers on everything. My dealer is a good friend so no problems there. There is a Chopper or was a Chopper on ebay just like mine. Search completed items and make him an offer. That is how I got mine.
