Hey, Gravely engineering tech types, I have a nerd question for you. Do you know if the engine mounting bolt holes on the B&S 16hp Vanguard are standardized? In other words, is it possible to bolt an engine from another manufacturer (Kohler, Honda, eg.) using the mounting plate that is used by Gravely to mount the B&S ? There are four bolt holes arrayed concentrically around the output shaft, do you know if these are of a standard size and distance from the output shaft? Also, could any keyed 1" output shaft drive the planetary set, as long as it were fitted with a sun gear of the proper size? Could a larger shaft be used, say a 1 1/8",again providing a properly sized sun gear is fitted? Thxs -Kent

I will be interested to see if Gravely researches this question. I get the impression that this forum is only for the commercial Gravely's.

It is not possible as far as I know.
We usually have to design an adapter plate to do this. Sometimes it goes further as you have suggested. Barry |
