I think a lot of people get hung up on "ideal time to transplant" and don't understand that you can transplant at almost any time as long as you understand the plant, the situation, and execute the job as well as possible.

Guts won't get it done.Knowledge and good practices will. I'm gonna guess that Marcos and Travellin Trees have that knowledge and those skills.

I've been leery of digging in past years,....some years ago,.... certain species in certain seasons.
But I LEARNED the high projected mortality rate that the books, and other nurseryman talk about is easily OVERCOME by 'digging up' to the next root ball size on the spade ( and / or using anti desiccants more freely).

Yes, it's harder work. But that's what the machine was made for.
And the larger cages, extra burlap and nails add up to almost nothing when you can demand a fall price in the range the SOME of these landscapers pay for NICE maples, 'out of season'.
