ford 550 vs Lcf 45?

what would the fuel costs be between these 2 in diesel?

Will not be towing, just hauling on the longest bed possible!

Does anyone know where I can find the available chassis sizes for the 450 and 550?

Check Fords website. 181" I think is one of them but it will depend on what rears on on the f550.

The biggest difference bettween the LCF and F-550 is turning radius. Where the LCF will turn into in one pass the F-550 will take two tries.

If your doing city work and dealing with city streets etc a 550 with a 16 foot deck will be a real beech to handle.

The max length bed you want to put on a 550 is 16 feet a 14 is better.

the 6cyc should get better fuel mileage though yes? it's not a "pimped out" as the v8 aka your 0-60 time is not going to be as good, but it'll be a great truck for lead footed employees.

LCF will get you much better fuel mileage, and theyre fun to drive! i finally got to drive one and if i were goin to stay in the lawn biz i would buy one!

If your into this for the long term...........price an Isuzu, UD or Mits. They have a much longer and reliable track record !

Is the LCF made by one of the better known cabover (any listed above) manufacturers?

It's my opinion that if you are thinking about investing in a cabover you will be delighted with the fuel economy, turning radius, build quality, durability and service life.

On a recent trip to Europe.......I did not see one conventional cab truck in ten days ! That includes tri-axle dumps, semi's and small service vehicles.

As fuel prices continue to rise work vehicles designed for economy, and long service free intervals will be in high demand here in the USA. The days of the Road Cowboy will be forced to a close by the Camel Jockey's.

Don't guzzle the fuel man!.............sip it.....!! Carefully select a cabover and enjoy the long term savings.

But........if you buy one and you are a tailgater.............you may not enjoy the full life of the truck.

Engine hp & torque an similar but the Isuzu pulls it of 4 cylinders.

the lcf is made by ford, international and mazda. I have a mitfuzo and LOVE it, but on our last purchase (hopefully here next week) we got a ford lcf w/ a SNG. The only reason being the mulch carring cap... the ford is a bigger truck, hands down. if you're mowing I'd get the mitfuso or isuzu great trucks, hauling stuff I'd look real hard at the ford.

I have A 07' LCF55 with a 12" ABC Dump. It can haul up to 12 yards of mulch, or 8 yards of soilmate (think top soil) or 5 yds stone, or 2 pallets of SOD. I have been running these loads on 25 mile runs each way in the nothern virginia area. The roads here are hilly, with lots of stop and go traffic. I have been averaging 11.9 to 12.4 MPG with moderate idle time,A/C on, and moderate rabbit starts loaded or not. My buddy is getting 8.5-9.0 MPG in his 06' F550 12' ABC Dump (STD CAB) doing the same type of runs from same locations. We have switched back and forth comparing notes and have come to the same conclusion.

The LCF is easier to turn, park. Has plenty of power, decent fuel economy, and the coldest A/C I have ever seen. On the down side. It is a bit noiser. Not a lot, but noticable. The driving position is "wierd" coming from the F350-550, but a day behind the wheel will get you past it. I prefer the LCF most out of my fleet so far. Just keep in mind that the dreaded "DPF" is on all 08' and newer models. Will have to see how it effects MPG... Find a 06'-07' they are out there.
