2 new pests appeared here this week

1) Green bug aphids on bluegrass

2) Rust on perennial ryegrass

We're in Iowa. That's all. Just wanted to update.

I can't speak to your aphid problem, but I have mucho experience with rust.

Basically, I have spent a lot of money on fungicides to control rust with minimal results. I have learned that if I apply enough N, throughout the growing season, I can prevent rust. FYI - when I speak about rust, I'm refering to it to the point it makes your boots completely orange.

Had some dollar spot on my lawn, and one bad case of pythium blight one one customer's lawn.... first time I saw it, but there was NO doubt. The textbooks and pics make this one as easy to ID as dollar spot. Treated for red thread on quite a few in the spring.... problem gone.

Seeing some rust on new seeded lawns. Dollar spot and some leaf spot where people are watering in the evenings and won't listen.
