Trimmer and Blower Maintenance?

Besides changing the plugs, air filter, and de carbonizing periodically, what do I need to do for maintenance on these engines? Both my Stihl Fs80 and my Br550 are running a little rough. I changed the plug on the trimmer (Fs80) lastnight and I think it is running much better. If I need to clean the carb out, is that a difficult process? Please help/explain!

its not difficult to remove and disassemble carbs, however its very difficult to clear those small passage ways. Its a 50/50 shot in my experience. I will try to clean once and if that doesnt do it i will buy new carb.
