Hello Supertiger,

I have never had a complaint of "lack of power" from the MAG-8000, nor have I ever seen the 1 HP industrial motor on the MAG-8000 ever bogged/slowed during use. It is near impossible with the torque it generates. The Baldor industrial frame motor has 2 capacitors and a solid state switch, it is a very heavy duty motor, and it is a continious duty motor.

(100% or continous duty motors are made for production machines running 24 hour shifts)

My guess is the complaint of lack of power was an easy excuse for something else. The complaint that we do hear in the 1-2 times per year we get a return of a MAG-8000 is due to the unique design of how it does mulching blades. Some people have a hard time getting used to it. It is very easy as you can see in the video, but its a different way to hold the blade, and sometimes people are so used to a bench grinder its hard to break bad habits.

The problem occurs that people are used to bench grinders, and angle grinders - the MAG-8000 does not function like either, so the way the blade is held in your hands is different. If people are not willing to read the instructions, watch the videos, or call for help, it can be difficult to understand.

Keep in mind when you purchase a sharpener or balancer from Magna-Matic, you have 30 days to use the unit, and fully test it in YOUR shop on YOUR blades, and if it does not meet your expectations you can return it for a full refund (less shipping costs.) We do this so our customers are not FORCED into keeping equipment that they did not find satisfactory.
