Gear ratios?

There are no tags on the diffs or the transfer case, How can I tell what the gear ratios are?<br>1984 Chevy Suburban K10 carryall 4x4

take a wire brush to the axle tubes.<br>there is a code stamped into the tubes<br>that tells you whats inside

If its still there,the biuld tag has the option codes,it should be in glovebox,go to the G's #'s.You will have a gu4 if you have 3.08,a gu5 for 3.42 and a gt4 for 3.73.If you have a 2500 series its possible to have a gt5 4.10 axle ratio.you more than likely have a 3.42 or 3.73.<p>----------<br>John D<br>
