Spring fFertilization?

I have been in the lawn industry for about four years now. I have never really fooled with fertilization any more than a little weed and feed. I was wondering what would be a good time to aereate and fertilize someones yard in the spring? I will probably end up using some kind of fescue. and my location is middle Tennessee.
