yeah ive been in business for 5 years, and have tried a few different brands over the years. My personal favorite is SCAG power equipment. They are reliable and effiecient mowers that just want to keep mowing. I have had one for about 4 years, and nothing has gone wrong except a few belts that have broke. The mower has over 1400 hrs on it, and its still going strong. All mowers that i own are scag now, and i wouldnt even hesitate about changing brands. Most commercial mowers will be all good, you just have to take care of them, and service regularly. For edgers i prefer stihl, however echo makes some good ones too!

Find a great dealer with one of the following. Again the dealer is what matters hear. All the equipment listed are great units.

Hustler, Toro, Exmark, Scag, or Grasshopper. (All have high quality cuts and the thickest decks the industry has to offer)

Trimmers or handhelds
STIHL(Number 1 worldwide), Echo, or Shindiawa

In my opinion these are the only machines you can truly compare apples to apples.

Derek's (Me) Personal Equipment

STIHL HS 45 18" (2008)
STIHL FS 80R (2001)
STIHL SH 86 (2009)
HONDA HRR216VKA (2008)
2010 Toyota Tundra SR5
Better Built 6x12 Trailer

We personally use Scag for our zero turns, stihl for all handhelds, and Honda for our 22". We have been using these for the last 7 years or so and have no complaints.

All brands have pros and cons.
You could read posts forever on this site as to what is best or the worst.
If you buy commercial equipment you can't go wrong. For the most part.
As others have posted the most important item is the dealer you deal with.

When something breaks down which it will your dealer will become the most important person in your life.
So you should consider things such as:
Is the dealer going to be around the next few years. I have seen a lot of them close the last two years.
Days and hours the dealer is open. Remember things break when least expected.
What does the dealer offer if your equipment is down a few days.My local dealer will lend me a demo if it is available.

Where is the next closest dealer. In case something happens that your local dealer can't provide.

Whatever brand or brands you decide on. My opinion is the dealer or dealers will make or break your opinion on that product.
