What to look for on used hydro

I am looking for a used commercial mower for cutting rental properties we own. I was looking at used belt drives but have come across used hydros. What should I check if buying a hydro. Is $1200 a good price for a used 1998 48" bobcat hydro?? Thanks for the help guys.

Make sure you bring a magnetic screw driver with you, check the hydro reservoir with it by putting it in the tank and move it around the bottom. You are looking for any metal fragments in the tank they should stick to the screw driver, if you find some, walk any.

That is a good idea, I'll have to try that on my own hydros. Tony
