Is a Terex HR12 any good??
Last friday, i had the opportunity to buy a Terex HR12 Mini-X at Ritchie Bros. auction w/just under 1,000 hours. I thought it would be great for large irrigation projects if the price was right.
Well the price i feel was right, and now i am kicking myself for not getting one. I think thier was 4-5 of them their and they were rental units all with around 900 hours. The first one brought 6k and the rest of them sold to the same person for 5.5k! Tell me they are pieces of crap, and i will stop kicking myself! Not knowing much about terex reliability, parts availability, etc. made me a little gun shy. I just saw one advertised w/2k hours for 12k!!!

They are relatively new to the market, but they seem to be in the same class as Volvo, they get the job done, might not have all the break out as others, but anything is better than a Bobcat mini excavator.
Terex is huge in Eurotrashland apparently. |

I don't know much about them other than they are built by a company called Schaeff that Terex owns and they've been building excavators for a long long time. They have been making the 442 and 444 for Bobcat for years. I think they were one of the first OEMs to use load sensing pumps and cushioned cylinders too.

They are pretty good machines. You just don't see alot of them around. I rented a Terex 3.2 a few years back. It had a ton of power and was real smooth, yet quick.

I was tempted to go to that auction. I always thought that most of what ABC had was trashed. Some of the larger excavators looked good. I am taking it, that they are really downsizing. I am looking at going up to the hill for another home, sometime this Fall. I am looking forward to it. I like working up there. As long as its not in the middle of the Winter.

KSSS, yes most of their stuff by the time they get rid of it has been used and abused, but since they were forced to downsize, most of the equipment they sold was premature for them. Alot of the equipment they sold was in pretty good condition. Hope you get some work up their, maybe we'll see you around in the fall.
Bobcat Ron, apparantely you missed the bobcat mini-x in my sig.! Either that or you were trying to be funny. Our 337 has never missed a beat. What do you guys think about the price, $5,500-6k?? Seemed pretty cheap to me, but you do have to take into account that it is so small that it is pretty limited in what it can handle.
