I work for one of the national companies and that's how they bid jobs. They Measure the sites in winter and plug the numbers into a computer program and it spits out the bid. In my opinion the jobs are horribly underbid. It is supposed to take a crew of 3 39 hours to complete. While I have a crew of 4 and when everything was growing rampant we were working 50 hours to complete it. Then my boss wanted shrubs pruned and my hours went up to 62. I was/am in major deep s%$# at work. The only thing that is saving my hours the last 2 weeks is that alot of the turf is dry and can't be cut. What I've learned is that is the strategy that works for them I guess.
