I am fortunate that I have not had to compete with anyone else yet. Most of my work has come from the landscape side of the business.

Yeah, probably 25% of my jobs have been bid by multiple companies. I have missed some of the smaller ones on price but no bigee. Looking through our phone book there is about 12+ companies devoted soley to outdoor lighting here. I am sure there are more that aren't in the phone book too. (we're not yet)

We give a fairly generic materials list but only one price.

And I've had a lot of potential customers hand me the quote from a competitor that was itmeized with prices.... I got everyone of those jobs.... that's why I don't do it.
