Need advice on what type of walk behind to buy... HELP!!!
I cut about 8 or 9 residential properties that are not that big in size. I currently have an exmark metro 36' fixed deck belt drive. This was my first season cutting and plan to go bigger next season and expand. I am trying to figure out what kind of walk behind to get next. Here is my situation, I can only spend $3000 on a mower and that is stretching it for me. I would like another 36" so that I can fit in through gates. I don't expect to be able to afford a hydro so I am just going to have to deal with a belt drive but my biggest dilema is fixed deck or floating deck. I know that floating decks are nice to have, but will it really make that big of a difference? the only time I have noticed mine to be a problem was on a yard with VERY thick sod and the cut was un even. SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE!!!! thanks a lot

Just curious, but why not just stick with the metro you have now if your looking to stay with 36'' deck? If you can IMO wait till you can afford a little more money and buy something with a bigger deck and keep the 36'' for the back yards when/if needed.

Haha. That would be the smartest thing actually and what everyone has told me. But I always have problems with my mower. wether it is the 19 pulls it takes to start it, or the choke sticking and won't allow me to shut down my mower. It is old and has a lot of hours on it and would like to have something that I do not have to worry about as much. Thanks for the reply and I would definately keep this mower if it did not give me so many problems

Dependability is huge so I definatly hear you. Im running a 48'' Metro atm and am looking to trade mine out for something with a adjustable deck. Mainly cause I have so many different types of grass's that I cut in one day and could really use the flexibility to adjust the deck more then at my house. I've been looking at alot of WB's and will probobly get a Ex Turf Tracer or one in the Scag lineup. The Turf tracer gets awesome reviews from most who own one and it seems you already have Exmark support where your at so that is two plus's towards it already.

i got a fixed deck on a 48'' and i never scalp. it isnt too bad to change the height if you just move a spacer or 2 on the front casters
