Right, anything can be torn up. However, I would think having just front brakes is a recipe for disaster for a lot of homeowners and the many bone heads you see driving Mowers. Are there exceptions to the rule? Sure. Lots of careful operators out there. The manufacturers have to try to make a machine that is both reliable and relatively easy to operate for operators of all experience levels.

just been teasing you - but that's the serious matter - safety and Productivity - ability to decelerate effectively and Uturn(stop);
with increasing weight and speed of the mowers and no front steering - you can't use effectively your speed;
Grasshopper beats superZ on medium lawns - due to turnarounds - with or without turf damage - having drive tires on the front, Grasshopper just plunges & pivots on the dime while any midmount would slide by...

this is important and should be mentioned too, since it is not so obvious - antill we saw it on video, it was hard to believe - ztr front brakes could work on hill, not just slide down on round tires like on skis

i like yellow markings on front and rear wheels - good idea

btw. if you''ll have time - one very short clip would be great

1. mower going down the hill, rear wheel stopped (markings on the wheel doesn't move), breaks not engaged (foot out of pedal).- mower sliding

2. same: mower going down, brakes engaged (foot on the pedal) - mower stops

Why not 4 wheel disc brakes? This would eliminate the ability to burn out hydros. Offset the braking 60/40 front/back like cars, or at least 80/20 Where you have front brakes, you will have guys that will work against them, wearing the pads out, warping the rotors, or burning the hydros up. At the same time, the brakes need to be the weak link, not the hydros.

there are disk brakes on rear wheels on most ztrs (parking breaks)

if make 4wheel breaks to be engaged by(at) levers neutral position - would it be a good idea?

Ok, here's an update. So far I've talked to people from Bad Boy, Toro, Grasshopper, John Deere, Dixie Chopper, and Cub Cadet.

After seeing the demo videos and on the mower brake system in person there is definately some interest there.
