23hp kawasaki engine problem

hi guys,
wonder if anyone has had this problem before our kawasaki engine randomly started cutting out this week know its nothing electrical and its getting fuel talked to a local guy after we took it apart were getting oil pushed back up into the carb engine will still run but because of this it'll die out once in a while like its just choking itself out. NOt overfilled with oil and its not smoking so it can't be a ton in there just enough to choke it once in a while.....this also causes the vaccum pump to not suck as much where it plugs into the top of the valve cover...that should be sucking there not blowing sometimes its just blowing cuz of the oil.......any idea how to fix this?

How do you "Know" this ?

The engine model AND spec numbers along with the mower model AND serial numbers would be helpful.....

23 hp kawasaki fh680v - cs21 - r .......took off air cleaner and fuel pump...oil was in carb and top of valve where pump connects to was blowing no sucking....however if i do get it into park in time it won't stall out so i'm just baffled. coils are fine.....new brake switch and other switches were replaced last year...all connections cleaned and tested...would that delay interlock module that they go to be bad and randomly kill the machine unless it gets into neutral which would reset or bypass it?

You betcha, That's why I questioned how you knew it wasn't electrical.

There is a black wire (if I remember correctly) coming out of this module and grounded to the frame. Disconnect this wire and see if it still acts up.

Also, Some of these units had a anti-tip kill switch (kills the engine if driven at too much angle) mounted on the engine near the dipstick area. It's black and looks like a over sized pill capsule, One wire goes into the harness the other grounds to the mounting screw. You can disconnect this ground wire then test run the unit to see if it is faulty.

The above is for test purposes only to locate a faulty part. Do not leave these disconnected for your and others safety, Replace the faulty part.

will try that today and see what happens...will the mower still run if the ground from the safety interlock module is undone? it does have that sensor above the oil filter looks like an oil sensor one blue wire going to it i'll see if thats it as well those are the only two things really i think it can be cuz it will run forever in park.....if it starts to stall and i get it into park and neutral it will pick back up again even if there is a little oil in the carb. thanks for the input may just replace both and be done with it.

on my model...they got rid of it after 2004 there is a tilt switch relay that has mercury in it...i bypassed that along with a 20 dollar new safety interlock module and all seems to be good so it was either one or the other.
