I had the same reaction from 2 dealers here in VA.
Both dealers said that there wasn't enough interest to put them on the floor, but if I wanted to demo one, they could make that happen.

We'll see if JD has them outside at G.I.E. to demo.

LESS THAN A WEEK and we'll see all of the new stuff!!!
(I'm like a kid in a candy shop! LOL )

I had asked him if they have had much interest in the quik-traks, he said they have had a little but haven't sold any yet. He said that most people just don't want to try something new, they either have their wb's or ztr's and don't want to change. But I even think that if more people would look into these machines, they would really like them. Yes, the quik traks are heavier than a wb but are also lighter than a ztr. So they are a good medium. People just need to give them a chance, I think if more people gave them a chance, more people would like them and use them. And they are actually quite affordable, similar prices to hydro wb's.

I paid 400 less then that for my 657.

Once again I know the planes fly high around here but what good is this guy gonna get if he asks a question and he gets a bunch of contradicting answers? How more confused could you get? The guy asked what we thought about a certain mower and one guy says it handles hills good and another guy says it doesn't? I'm just trying to point out that sometimes you need to question the credibility of peoples "opinions" and really at the end of the day just go use the mower and find out for yourself how it performs.

I guess that you irritated me when you were referring to people with differing opinions as LIARS.
The guy that likes the hill holding ability had lesser slopes, or had only used mower that performed worse previusly. The guy that said they wouldn't go backwards up a slope, was either trying to load it on his trailer, or was mowing side to side on a hill, and when he got to the end of his pass,he had trouble turning the mower around, since that mower can't gain any traction in reverse, since most of that machines weight was transfered to the front casters.

As I said in a previous post, opinions from others, will give you some clues of things to look for when you go to demonstrate the mower. Then you can decide for yourself.

Several years ago, a fellow (Rich) worked for me a few months in the winter. When Spring came a round, he went into busines for himself. He bought a 657. I ask him how he liked it. He loved it. but he had never used my 1998 Origional GD Surfer, so he didn't know how much easier the Origional Surfer handled. I needed a new mower, and bought a 657. We tried it out for two days, and parked it in the storage shed. We thought that it had too much weight on the front (which is good for going straigt up a hill), but the drive wheels don't get enough traction to turn around. It will turn around if you go backwards, while you try to turn the mower around. When Rich's dad died, he ask me to take care of 20 lawns for him, so he could go out of town to attend the funeral. While mowing his lawns, I thought they were very torn up anywhere that he turned the 657 around. I also usede his employee who only trimmed. He said that he tried the 657 and couldn't stand it. I insisted that he play with my Origional Surfer in my back yard for 30 minutes... he loved it.

My 657 WILL mow TALL grass faster than my O Surfer. WILL go up a hill, without flipping backwards.....but it sits in the storage shed.

The quote was a conservative price, incase there is a price increase by next spring when I buy. But the MSRP for the 647 is about $7600, so I did get an $800 discount off it already.

Obviously when I was referring to hills I was referring to something steep. Not a little berm.

I also dont think that people are going to mow ANYTHING let alone hills backwards.

As you said before all conditions for people are different so before you start criticizing people YOU might want to take that into account.

AS I said. I was responding to Chris Melrose, for calling people liars, because they had differing opions about a mower. I in no way was criticizing anyone for liking or hateing the JD hill holding ability...it's all good input. Chris Melrose said their opionions were worthless. My post was directly after his, so I did fail to make it perfectly clear by not quoting him.
