Clutch Slipping?

I have an 01 F250 PSD w 6 spd manual. Just today while towing my dump trailer, I noticed something which makes me wonder if I'm gonna need a new clutch.. Especially in 6th, while towing, when I accelerate hard, the rpms will (sometimes, not consistently) rev higher, then lower on its own, almost like its shifting into a higher gear on its own. Is this a clutch issue or something else? If so, ball park on what a new clutch will cost me?

Why are you accelerating hard in 6th? That's part of the problem right there.

Being in the right gear when accelerating what you need to be doing, 6th is for cruising......

Cltuch job's don't cost much if you do it yourself, if you pay someone to do it it will often cost ya.

To test it put the truck in 4th or 5th gear and let the clutch out if the engine doesn't want to stall your clutch is going.

Depending on what you have in the truck if its original clutch then you will want to change it out for the single mass flywheel. Depending on the quality of the clutch you could be out 1500-1800 doesnt include install.
