dremmel is the best answer. i have used a file and it takes way too long. i can even use a hand grinder but dont recommend it due to the ease of damage to the teeth

Sharpening trimmers

Just bought a 45.00 drimmel at home depot and it works great for sharpening the blades.two sharpenings and it pays for itself.

i find it best to take the blades off the machine, put them in a vise, and then go about sharpening. with that in mind, about 30 min or so

It took me about 15 minutes with someone else holding the trimmer for me.
I think it will be best to remove the blades next time.
