If you want to stay with a Half ton look at the F150 with the Max Tow Package. With it you can pull up to 11000lbs, as they put in an intergrated brake controller and a beefed up bumper and frame, plus a few more changes, they make a true heavy half ton. Also for your trailer try Scott at Jensen Trailers in Oshawa, I have know him for years and he will take very good care of you. I don't know if they sell the JDJ but they will have something equivalent or better. In Ontario you can legally tow up to 1012lbs based on the axle weight with a G license.
