Hey Yianni

I am in a similar situation to you, but a different country! The UK

I am leaving college this year and hoping to start up a landscaping business dealing with the basic maintainance side to start with, such as grass and hedge cutting etc.

I have arranged insurance and got a bank account sorted, i have invested in some basic equipment and a trailer

I am going to set up a website wioth the help of my friend and also get some t-shirts etc. printed along with some flyers and business cards

Good luck! and let us all know how it goes

heres what you'll need. get a dba bank account in the business name. register your company name at your local town hall (this will get you your tax id # and all your reg paperwork) get a good business insurance (depending on what you are doing youll need more or less) get all required licenses (home improvement contractors lic and whatever else your state requires) that sould be all the paperwork you should need to get you up and running legally. if i left something out someone please chime in.

It's kinda late in the season to be starting, but you gotta start sometime!
You'll should get GL (general liabiltiy) insurance 1 mil.
You'll need a name for your bussiness, and a phone number,

You'll want to figure out how you are going to bill your customers, whether it be an invoice, a knock on the door, etc...
You should get a gas Leaf blower, and trimmer, and a mower will be important too.
You might want to make an excel sheet of all of your profits, expenses, bussiness profits, etc...

Hope this helps,

and the funny thing is, I'm only 17!

Ya im 17 too. kinda been doing this since i was like seven but this year was my first real year doing lawns. finally figured out how much money you can make lol. i havent even heard of doing business insurance or taxes. frankly i guess im not that big, and frankly the government isnt going to waste their time on you lest your making enough money to catch their eye. if i get bigger, like 15 lawns or so, i might register. but i guess thats just the honest capitalist in me. wanting the government to stick their finger in someone elses pie.

rock + mower blade could = debt for life depending on what it hits. Insurance and taxes are a must my friend. Man up and do it right so you and your family wont have to worry about lawsuits lingering over your heads. Good luck!

Stay in school, but you need to resiter with the state(really easy in N.H.), 100 bucks a year and you need to get insurance like the others said and become an LLC. Im from N.H. as well so good luck to ya kid.
