crabgrass is winning
I am having quite the battle on my small front lawn with crabgrass over the past 3 weeks. Since the high temps hit, the lawn has gone semi dormant, and crabgrass has taken off. I know the pH is low, and the soil OM is low. I have top dressed 2 times this season with compost, and have applied calcitic lime once.
I want to continue with my organic approach, is there anything that will control/eliminate my issues? See attached pics.............

For a lot that size I would be hitting it with some Corn Gluten Meal. 9-0-0 or the liquid CGM with no nitrogen in it.
Timing is very important with CGM. It does help reduce the amount of crabgrass over time (years). Or 1 application of Acclaim(chemical) and your crabgrass is gone. Or mechanical removal will help. Start seeding every fall. |

The horse is out of the barn - when that crab was young it should have been pulled or before it was young it should have been hit with some CGM or Gluten 8. Now you have to burn it or hit it with some drive or Q4.

I was hoping for better non chemical options, but had a gut feeling that chemicals were ther only way to do it......

Try the Cinnamin Bark powder. I t works pretty good, and with a lot that size, you can stay on top of it.
I personally would tear up, that one section that is nothing but CG, and keep it clean until seeding time. Whatever you do... don't let it go to seed...

Yep we will start to kill some lawns now and seeding the first week of August.
I would kill it too! Start over and use the Gluten early next year or just pull it when it starts.

Its a shared space with neighbor (its a duplex condo, in a residentail street, no condo committee). Dont think they will go for burning it.
Is there a synthetic control that will work on something this bad?
