I would never attempt to mulch with this mower, it would leave a huge trail of grass! The problem is definitely worse on thick sodded lawns! Toro, are Croat and I the only one's having this problem? Thanks |

$2600 is not a cheap mower! So every homeowner that buys one of these mowers has to deal with a trail of grass and has to mow the lawn twice? Croat is a homeowner, he shouldn't have to deal with this either! Last edited by Clark Griswold; 08-26-2010 at 07:39 PM. |

Yes, $2600.00 is a CHEAP mower. Actually, that price gets you a mower that is awful close to junk quality. A mower that is designed with a useful life of MAYBE 500 hours, if you treat it carefully.
And, yes, every person who wants to mow thick, tall, lush grass with it will have a struggle on their hands. This machine is designed for very light mowing conditions. No effort was spared to cut costs on these machines to make them CHEAP enough to sell at the big box stores. This mower compares to the Cub RZT, and Troybilt machines, and a host of others sold at the big box stores to unsuspecting customers. As they say, "you get what you pay for" I fell sorry for you, or anyone who has bought one of these CHEAP machine with high expectations that it will cut nice and last a long time. They will do neither.

If you do not want to hear the truth, don't ask.

I wasn't asking you, I'm supposed to be corresponding with Toro in this section of the forum but thanks, you've been a great help!

This looks like a question directed right to me, don't you think?
Toro will never tell you the truth, so I thought i could help save you time and effort, and just "cut to the chase". So, I am done here, just go ahead and waste your time with that machine, and Toro's useless answers to your problem.

I agree with Mowingman ... for commercial use you need a commercial machine !!

i also have the
4200, and only use it on my lawn, approx. 1 acre...
no issues with it leaving a trail of grass, and I am mulching.... I'm not sure how much grass (in length) you are trying to cut, obviously (not being smart), if you try to cut too much you will see clumps of grass behind you.... my deck is tilted slightly forward, and is even side to side, other than that I can't think of any settings that would help....and I am using mulching blades... again, if you let the grass too long, and/or try to cut too much you will see a grass trail...with any mower... good luck |
