Thoughts on this truck

I found a 1994 f450 7.3lt diesel with 135000. It has a 12 ft. stake body, auto trans, 2wd. It has light rust. The guy who's selling it took it in on a partial trade for another truck. He has no need for it and is asking
$2300. All mechanical is good. Should I jump on this truck or any thoughts would help on things to look for.

I would offer him $2000. But even at $2300, sounds like a good deal.

The truck has a 7.3 IDI non turbo or it could have the factory turbo the 7.3 PSD was offered that year the first year it was but only with a 5spd behind it.

The old F-Superduty trucks are pretty good I owned 3 of them I would consider owning another. They carry a good load the 16 inch tires don't last long.

Do you have any pictures ?

I'd say its a pretty good deal regardless, but there are a few things that would make it a better deal.

Which 7.3L does it have. 94's were made with a 7.3 IDI (indirect injection), a 7.3 IDI turbo, and a 7.3L Direct injection Turbo (1st gen. powerstroke). obviously these are listed in ascending order of value. All three are decent engines, although they are all subject to cavitation in the cylinder walls, particularly the IDI engines. If you can find out, make sure that the engine has always had the Ford coolant additive. check a ford forum like the diesel stop for more info.

I always check brakes/steering, cause odds are that your going to poor some money into those as soon as you buy an old truck.

Good luck
