BUT, can a Universal Remote act as stand alone? ie. existing controller is toast and doesnt work and professional wants to fire up the zones and begin further selling/diagnosis right away rather than convince the homeowner/manager that a new clock is needed and that AFTER they agree to buy and have installed the new expensive clock THEN the professional can further checkout the zones/heads/patterns.
(vs maybe a less convienient 521 locating and then manual bleeding)

Just take a working transfomer and wire 1 lead to common, the other to zone wire. But as others have said " sell em a damn clock"
