Greenlee 24B and/or 24BK

Been looking for an easier system than the 'ol multimeter to test continuity and solenoids in the field.

Are these things any good or redundant equipment?

How far will the 24 B send a "chatter" signal?

the station master works well. it doesn't beet a MM, though. i have never used the chatter function. i have noticed that when using it to activate a valve it really sucks up battery power.

its really no harder/easier than using a meter.

i agree with the sm working well, the pro-48 works well also it's too big for my needs (gave mine to john malt, he loves it) and won't fit in my 521 box with all the other stuff.

again i agree, never used the chatter function (you need to turn the water off first) i never noticed the 24 being hard on the battery, unless i leave the toner on when i put it up.

cool thing about the sm is that you can de-energize the leads, connect to a disconnected common and touch each station wire or screw and get an immediate pass/fail light.

i've talked TDR's up on the site and here goes again, the TDR will give a continuity reading when you test each wire, along with the distance to the valve (continuity) or fault (reads length)

in short the station master/pro-48, a dmm, a TDR and a remote eventually need to be in everyones bag of tools.

Just looking for additional tools to the 521 and mm to ease my aching back and knees.
