I'm a fan of Simple Green extra strength de-greaser.

It's bio degradable, good for the environment of course, and works great.

? are you going to use hot water? What are you trying to clean off, grease and oil or just grass and dirt? I would start with a mild cleaner like simple green. Hot water will make cleaning a lot easier!

Purple power, stuff works wonders. Every blue moon I take my equipment to the carwash and spray everything with that purple power(trailer, all equipment, everything) and then just powerwash everything. It all usually comes out shining with no extra scrubbing.

Quick FYI, not a good idea to wash mowers after they have been running for a long time.
