Starting A Business

Hello Everyone!,

I am ready to make my business legit. I am located in California so this question's answer might vary from state to state. I just want to register my business name. I have been doing some research and found different options such as DBA "doing business as", an llc limited liability company, and fictitious business name. I think the DBA and LLC apply to me more. I was just wondering which one should I choose? Also is it better to register with the state? county? or city? Any personal experience will help. Thanks!
Also has anyone registered their business name with legalzoom.com? opinions?
