tire chains
i know there is plowsite, i dont use it. im a landscaper, i use lawnsite. anyway, after last winter (alot of ice) and smashed up bed side/bumper/mirror, i bought a set of tire chains for my f350. anyone else use them? any imput? i only bougth a pair to try them out. only plan on using them if its really nasty like last year with our 20" storm on dec 25th. i think they would do more good on the front tires. anyone with knowledge id love to hear from you. thanks

dont put them on the front, just the rear. Make sure you use the bungies to keep them tite. I got a pair that say bungies are not required . I should have known better. After retightening them after a few min,
the drivers side came off and took the break line out. Needless to say I use bungies on em now. Dont get the home owner ones that look like cable. get the v chain. U will be amazed where u can go with these on.

Just bought a set of Canadian spec V bar, SOB what a difference but holy crap they are rough riding everything shakes in the cab I'am scared it will loosen up the dashboard.
I will use the chains when I need too, also I need to find a way of controlling the loose end of the chain where you hook the J hooks. |

You can get the heavy duty ones without the V-Bar, that is what I use. I run chains on all fours wheels for my plow truck, otherwise, just the rear. Ideally you would avoid running them on bare pavement. On snow, they are actually not that bumpy.

thanks guys....i dont plan on running them often, only when the ice is so bad you slide on the slightest hills.....almost flat driveways or the snow is more than 12" deep. otherwise, them come off. im not in the mood to loose my fillings, the dentist is expensive.

Wont hurt the tires. You wont break any speed records with them on, but the first time you use them in deep snow you will be glad you have them.
