Don't all of you shop for a deal or discount . YES!!! you know you do.

Offering discounted services or items is the American way. Its the way almost every business in this country works to lure potential customers to buy there products or services. Just because your marketing tactics did not work for you does not mean they wont work for someone else. I'm not saying just because its free or cheaper its going to be better. Everyone is different thats what makes this country great.

I truly beleive that most people will respond to something free or discounted, even if you mark it up first. We allow a certain amount of discounts in our overhead budget.

We have the advantage of having the garden center. We use various promotions that offer landscape or lawnservice customers or what ever discount coupons toward cash and carry purchases in our store. That builds retail business and gets people in the door. In many cases we are generating dollars that we would not get otherwise. Also having loyalty programs such as frequent shopper cards are very effective.

The trick to offering free stuff is to make sure that they are cheap for you but give a high value.
Also make sure that you put a small window of time so that the pressure is on them to contact you quickly. Most of the time the free offer will expire but you will still make an impression on them.
