Undersoil ripping action. It is hard to describe without a visual. Here goes....
Rolling tines enter the soil at about a 45 degree angle with the tip pointing towards the direction of movement. As the wheel rolls forward the tine goes from 45 degrees forward to 90 degrees or vertical in the soil. As the wheel continues forward the tine will exit at a 45 degree forward with the tip pointing in the reverse position. This action of the tine under the soil rips and fractures the soil making is loosen the tearing roots. Torn roots put off new growth and the fractured soil allows the plant growing room and breathing room. Oxygen and nutrients pass more easily into and gasses out of the soil.

Consider that. Piston type aerators plunge straight in and out. They tend to copact the bottom of the hole and sides if it is wet.

Spacing is like the Pro26 so the answer is yes. Understand that all these walking rolling aerators give you 6 holes per sq ft.

When we tested more than 6 holes per sq ft the weight required made the machine way to heavy to operate. So we are stuck with 6 per sq. So plan to go over the lawn twice to do a good quality job. 9 is good 12 is better.

What is the aeration path width on this unit? How many tines? Can't tell from the video looks like it could be 5 or 6?

There are 6 tines per wheel and 6 wheels for 36 tines. I would have to look at the spec sheet to be sure but I an sure it is like 22 or 24 inches.

Yes the hole count changes depending on how you locate the sq ft. In reality there are 6 holes in each sq ft on each pass. You really need to make two passes to get a good aeration job. All and I mean ALL rolling type aerators will be the same within a fraction of an inch on spacing and all will be 6 holes per sq ft. The weight requirement to get more holes per sq ft is just too high for a walking type unit. If you try to get them closer they also tend to tear the weaker turf. So we are and have been for 30 years stuck with what we have.
