HELP need advice on buying my first isuzu npr work truck!!

Hey guys my buddy is selling a 1996 isuzu NPR flatbed truckwith 2 ft sides. It is 12 ft bed and the truck only has 58,000 MILES!!! It is automatic runs great. It is the turbo deisel. It is in very good condition for a 96 I give it a 7.5 out of 10. Based of this info what do you think a truck like this is worth?? Oh and it is a single cab as well. I am looking for a work truck with a bed and can tow and this looks perfect Its a dually and is in good condition.

SO guys what would you appraise this at?

I purchased a 03 Isuzu off of Craigslist -Atlanta with auto-diesel-flatbed for $10,800. It was used for pressure washing and had 73k miles on it when I bought it.

I wouldn't even consider a pre-99 isuzu. They got the new tranny in 99, so you can plan on replacing the transmission at 100k at $3k. I would hope he is around 4-6k.

really i didnt think it was worth anywheres near 10k!? He was asking 5400.. should I not pass this up? what are some existing problems i should check for since hes selling it so cheap even though it has real low miles

Reallu just the transmission is the only problem on the older moduls. But even then you can buy a salvage tranny for 1-2k if yours ever goes out. Everything else is pretty darn tough.

I have never really had problems out of the ones I have had. I just try to sell them when they get up to 200-250k because the motor isn't as bulletproof as others.

Oh and Isuzu's are not great at pulling. They are better hauling their load on the bed.

your area might be a lot different with prices but in NJ the truck you describe would sell between 10 and 15k.

i own several pre 99 npr's (all with over 100k miles, diesels) and the transmissions are fine.

that price is a steal unless theres something major wrong with it. $5000 would get you a 1990-95 npr with over 100k and minor work needed...
