That's a really good way to look at it.
Everyone should take a quick look at the text layout in newspaper/magazine articles before they start formatting the content for their own site.

OK if you say so. To me, it's just too much when you use the words "grass cutting" or "grass cut" 16 times on your home page. (I may have missed a couple.) Pay no attention to me, though; my own family says I'm overbearing.

I think of writing web content using the newspaper model - Catchy headlines and sub-headlines, first two lines summarizing the page content, using bulleted lists whenever possible, using bold text judiciously, using call-out quotes or lists for quick views.

When you use that newspaper model then you can add as much text as you want - the average person probably won't read it all (and won't penalize you for using too many words), but Google reads every word and might be impressed enough to push you to the top of each page.

Those are called Key Words. Google likes those.

I think it's a fine website. Nice use of images, layout objects, keywords and keyword phrases. It's very clean and easy to navigate. Not cluttered nor is it empty feeling. Very user friendly. Good color scheme. Great features here and there filling up space with valuable info and resources. Well done, I'm jealous.
