Zero Turn Opinions

I need a zero turn for my uncle and am looking at the following models:

Toro SS5000- 50'' deck, 22hp kawi., EZT

Toro ZX4820- 48'' fab deck, 22hp kaw., ZT2800

Hustler Sport- 48'', Honda, EZT

Deere Z425- 48'', Briggs, ZT2800

These are the mowers I am looking at, so only comments on these mowers.
Thanks to all who reply.

Of those choices it would have to be the Hustler.

Definetely Hustler

Hustler has my vote! Although it has been my first and only mower, The mower is awesome! I have a 52 inch Mini Z and I love it! The smooth trak steering is great for new employees since it isn't "as" touchy as other ZT's I have drove. I love that when you put the steering arms out in the park position, it automatically engages the brakes. A little thing like that really makes a HUGE difference when you do it day in and day out. Plus they have the best warranties in the industry!

The customer service is by far the best out there! Not only in my dealer awesome, so is corporate! My mower just went out of warranty and my left hydro pump failed. Took it to the dealer and they called corporate and they ended up paying half of parts AND labor when they technically didn't have to pay for anything! They saved me hundreds or even a thousand dollars! After that, I was definetly sold on Hustler!

In my opinion, Hustler doesn't get as much credit as they deserve. After all, they were the first to create the zero turn back in 1963! Hustler's equipment is also contracted with many federal, state, and local governments including Philladelphia Int. Airport. That says a lot right there.

I hope to sometime go to Hesston, Kansas and go on their factory tour!

I don't like any of the choices! But out of any of them the Hustler would be the obvious choice. I like the offerings from Scag and Bad Boy better.

How much would a 48'' Freedom Z go for? I was considering them, but then thought they might be to expensive.

Thanks for all of the great help!

If your uncle is just mowing his own yard the Hustler would be fine. 3 year warranty and the Honda engine. I went with Snapper (S50 series) because for the price (3999.99) i got a thicker deck a better transmission and a commercial series Kawasaki engine and a commercial grade mower. (granted a lower end one). I got the 36" deck to fit through gates. I think the price on the 48" is around $4499 but don't quote me on that.
But if he is just mowing a residential or estate lawn i would get the hustler.

My uncle and I will probably choose the Hustler. Capemay Eagle: I did look at a Freedom Z today and it was much more than he wants to spend. Also, the Bad Boy dealer is pretty far from his house.

Thanks for all of the suggestions and great advice.
