pump leaks from nut

i have a dewalt pressurewasher with a 13 hp and cat pump. I broke off the red nut that keeps the pump oil in the pump. The nut i replaced it with has a hole at the top of it; not exactly sure if the one before it did or not. Well, pump oil is coming out of that hole. Is this nut suppose to have a hole at the top; if so whats the deal?

If it is the nut for adding oil it is supposed to have a hole in it. I always put to much in one of my pressure washers and the excess will leak out of it as I run the machine.
