Towing Gas Milage
Id like to see what everyones towing Gas mileage is. Hand Calculations only and no high balling
![]() I have a lifted silverado 2500hd 6.0 gas. I pull a single axle 2000lb Trailer. Mix of city highway and street diving with trailer on full time, 6.6mpg. Wanting to know if there are any 2011 silverado hd diesel trucks out there and their towing mpg. |

06 Cummins longbed, get about 11.5-13 with my 16' trailer that tips the scales at about 5500lbs all loaded up. Get about 15 in town when not towing, seen as high as 21 on the hwy.

Our 06 250 SD has a 5.4L with a K&N air induction kit and a super chip and it seems to get 10-12 no matter what its doing, even empty. Our enclosed trailer is 24ft long and always loaded with equipment totaling (with trailer) about 8k. Our 05 F350 SRW has a 6.0L PowerStroke and we just got it so I can only guess from what Ive read and heard expect to get mid teens. I think for around town towing and occasional hi way towing your better off with a V-10, Ford's V-10's put out almost 500lbs of torque!

Well what are you towing? I'm assumed we're only talking about lawn care trailer's and equipment here. Ford's V-10 is a great motor, I personally don't own one but Ive seen several with 200k plus mileage and running/towing like new. I'm sure if your towing a 9k lb skid steer in a 14gvw dump trailer and the bed of the truck loaded with dirt or gravel then thats a different story and your probably way over loaded to begin with.
