Have a dilemma .. your advice..
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&cl...01116&t=h&z=20
Theres my yard. I cut it now with an old Cub Cadet. I make a lot of turns but it still make it look nice. The back yard(lower side of pic) is on a somewhat steeper slant. My question to you is... Would you go with a Hustler Sport 42" Zero Turn $3500 or a Simplicity Lawn Tractor for $2600 if this was your lawn... I like to stripe as shown in this pic. http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=345660 Any advice would be great! |

i would go with the lawn tractor, not a big enough yard to spend that kinda money and get a stripping kit for it

I would stay clear of the Huslter
The Hustler ZTR's blow clippings out in all directions regardless if you run with a chute or mulching deck. You have a long sidewalk... Supposedly Hustler has come out with a new deck design but I cannot confirm that. It is a good industrial mower not something I would recommend for the home owner. I would go with the lawn tractor.

If you want to cut it in 10 minutes so you can get out and do other things then get a z-turn.

Do not purchase either mower.......
![]() Hire a reputable lawn care service to mow it weekly.

One of our other facility runs Huslter Z's with RD decks one is set up as a mulcher the other the RD chute is open. Both mowers run gator blades. The cut is perfect and stripes very nice. The only issue is the amount of clipping left on adjoining concrete. The problem is a little less pronounced on the mower with the open chute. I talk to the gentleman that runs that facility and according to him: Hustler has come out with a new deck design that is supposed to help with this issue. Problem is the decks are not compatible with older machines. No doubt the cut is nice.
