Tips to use in PG Mag

Guys - picked up a used Mag in the off season.
Calibrating it now. Unit came with two high-gear nozzles to try - Teejet TF3 and TF5 Turbofloodjets. So I tried both on cement to see which had a better pattern coverage. Seems to me that the TF3 covered a little better and puts out less volume. What are guys using out there on your Mags, either of these?

Also, noticed that I get about a 7 ft wide eff pattern with my machine. Seems a ft or two thin, anyone chime in?

7 feet does not sound like enough. Machine is 3 feet wide so it is covering 2 feet out on each side? Clean the filter inside the tank and in the nozzle bodies. Maybe aim them up at a little higher angle. How many ounces per minute are you getting? Is each side the same? Is the motor running at maximum rpm? Take a look at my pictures of the pattern from my PG Ultra 4 years ago, (since sold).

Don't know volume/unit time yet, going out today to run a few tests to get that.
Also, can't compare a Mag to an Ultra, only one nozzle for high speed wide spray instead of the two like the Centri or Ultra. I am beginning to think I like the two better. Maybe that accounts for the difference in width (If I recall I got like 8 ft out of my Centri)

Will also look at the RPM's to make sure they are optimized.

OK did some tests.
Looks like I am getting right about 0.2 gal/1K sq ft volume.
Using #3 Floodjets, high gear wide spray.

Does that volume seem a bit lean to anyone, from a Magnum?
I also have the blue tips I could use (#5's) for more volume ONLY if it will provide as or more effective weed kill.

I just bought a Permagreen Ultra and was wondering about the spray system myself. I might be old school from pasture spraying back in the 70's and 80's but was thinking about a boom [like from a spreadermate] mounted to the front with some flat fan or AI fan nozzels.

Going 3400 or so.
Manual says max should be 3450.

So you are getting 0.2 gal per 1000 sqft. Do you mean you are getting about 100 ounces of spray per minute? Is the pump belt tight? Any hoses plugged or kinked? Pressure regulator valve failed or jammed with debris? About what percent of solution is pumping back to tank? How many pounds pressure? Can you block the spray by putting your finger over the hose end? How does it work if you take the nozzle out and check the flow with no nozzle in place? How come a 2 gal per minute pump is putting out less than 1 gal? Air in system? Suction leak? Fully primed?

All good questions....
But if my machine actually performed at the full 2 gal/min capacity, I would be outputting equivalent to a skid. PG's won't even put out anywhere close to 1 gal/K.

I was thinking I should be more around 1/4 gal/K but out of a PG I wouldn't expect much more than that.
