Paver Edging (Soldier Border w/ Paver Brick)

So glad I stumbled across the site, been reading threads/posts for the past few days.

I'm going to be building a fire pit circle using some concrete stones from Ideal Concrete Block (Northeast) and for the seating area, wanted just to use crushed stone instead of building a patio around it. On the border of this seating area, I'm looking to have a soldier border using some of the small or medium paver bricks the company sells. My question is whether I need to put the flexible paver edging on both sides of the border before filling the area in with stone, or just on the outside portion that is against the grass. In addition, should it go around the fire pit ring itself as well?

Thanks!
