what does it look like at maturity? I have what amounts to a stab in the dark but before I embarrass myself, I was hoping for a description of what it's characteristics were beyond the seedlings we see here.

stab away...paleeeze. It gets cut regularly, so I can't really say what maturity looks like. It has tripled in size since my original post. It stays pretty much like in the pics..just taller and larger leaves....I should say the leaves stay in proportion to what they are in the pics (unlike crab leaves that elongate) It will completely crowd out any turf variety. I just sprayed round 2 as a test with both trimec classic and red zone at almost double rate...last app was 2 weeks ago.

Can you get Dismiss in your state? Looking at the info provided by Purdue, sulfentrazone is one of the herbicides that will provide some control.

My first thought based on the initial description and the ineffectiveness of the 3 ways, was Japanese Stiltgrass, but the fact that you are saying the leaves do not elongate rules out that idea, so back to the drawing board for me.

It's possible my description is inaccurate. Here is this weed growing in the woods.....all over the place this year. I am seeing some control on test patches that i have sprayed at 10 day intervals with standard 3 way and heavy sticker...seems as White was right about new seeds germinating right behind though. Yesterday I also did a full rate dimension .5 with sticker to see if that would do anything...

I have something close to that growing in my drive way. Right where I fill the bird feeder. Just noticed it this morning. Is there a wild bird feeder close by. Just stabbing away.

you know what, I think I may stick with my stiltgrass id looks like the leaves are elongating and light green. I have seen it in lawns we take care of and it seems to do just fine with regular 3-31/2 inch mowing....
